How did ragdoll cat originate in “California”!And who first created this breed?

In 1960, in a city called California, a person named Ann Baker created the ragdoll cat breed. There is also a mysterious story in this story. Baker had a cat named Josephine and that cat died in a car accident. Usually, after this accident, her personality changes and she becomes very attracted to newborn kittens. Although i have never verified the truth of this story, the ragdoll cat breed is one of my favourite cat breeds.

To control the breeding of this new breed of cat, Ann Baker trademarked a group of breeds. He created his own registry for breeding these cats. He also aimed to prevent other breeders from breeding this ragdoll breed. He did not allow other breeders to register ragdolls in the registry.

Naming:

There is also a little historical matter about the naming of ragdoll cat. Because of their cute nature, they have been named this by comparing them to ragdoll dolls. One of their characteristics is that these kittens can grow up with people from the beginning. The first European cat breed was created in 1981. The ragdoll cat breed is a young breed of cat. In 1964, the cats originated and in 1965, the first kittens were named ragdoll.

Origin:

Ann Baker borrowed a tomcat from her neighbour. She crossed that tomcat with joseph law. The kittens that were born by crossing were crossed with another kitten. And baker’s kittens gave birth to all the brands of ragdolls today. The best way to recognize ragdoll cat is by their medium-long hair and blue eyes and a large body. Ragdoll cat usually live for 10 to 15 years. Although some cats have been recorded living for twenty years or more.

Adoption:

Here is an interesting fact. Ann baker patented this breed. It is the only cat breed that has been patented to date. This has led to many disputes among people. Because many people wanted to make money from its breeding. There was a family named Dayton in the 70s. This family named Dayton gradually became the owner of a group of 18 cats from Ann Baker’s breeding. Much was done at that time to popularize this breed of cat. The first advertisement for this breed was given in the Loss Angeles times in 1974.

The original cat of the ragdoll breed:

Looking at old correspondence, it seems that in 1963, Denny Dayton and Ann Baker started talking about creating the red doll breed. Ann crossed daddy war box with Josephine to give birth to Foggin. But none of these cats were once a breed at that time. These four cats Josephine, daddy Workbox, Foggin and Buckwheat are the origin of the ragdoll breed. Of these four cats, only the daddy Warbucks and the Fagiano were recognized as ragdolls by the national cat fancier’s association in 1966.

Body profile:

Over the years, ragdoll cat has become popular with people for their attractive appearance. Ragdolls have striking blue eyes that can vary in color. They are very affectionate and have a fluffy coat. The ragdoll breed comes in six different colors, including cream, lilac, chocolate, blue, red, and sable. However, they are generally divided into four color categories. According to the cat fancier’s association, ragdolls were the most popular cat breed in 2023. Male cats weigh 12 to 20 pounds, while females weigh eight to 15 pounds.

Conclusion:

Ragdoll cat have become very popular since their introduction to the cat world. Their temperament, friendly nature, and physical characteristics are quite attractive.
